Wound management principles for effective outcomes

There are no entry requirements or prerequisite knowledge to enter this course

This course prepared the health worker to practice preventative, rehabilitative, health maintenance and therapeutic interventions in the management of acute and chronic wounds, fistulae, management of percutaneous drains and tubes, and lower extremity diseases.

This short course will explore the anatomy and physiology of wound healing. Skin tear management, pressure ulcer treatment, wound assessment, appropriate wound care products, the diabetic foot and leg ulcer management are included in the course.

  • To provide participants with background knowledge of the stages of the wound healing cycle, factors contributing to skin breakdowns and factors affecting healing.
  • To enhance participants knowledge of the variety of wound dressings available and its properties and correct usage.
  • To be able to apply Wound Management principles as the basis for decision making.
